1959 16” Ellicott Suction Dredge

Built in 1959

Hull dimensions: 80’ x 25’ x 6.5’ with a draft of approx 5.5’

Dredge is equipped with anchor booms for handling swing anchors

Spuds are 45’ long

Ladder digging depth: 30’ max

Last drydock 8/99 at Greenport Shipyard.  Hull blasted and painted, new zincs installed.

Dredge engine is a Superior 40-SX-8, 800 hp, 900 rpm direct coupled to 1.387:1 reduction gear, which is coupled again to a thrust bearing driving the dredge pump.

The dredge pump is a Mobile Pulley design 15” x 15”

All dredge pump parts are readily available.

Dredge has velocity and density gauges as well as a production meter measuring yds per hour.

There are two generators onboard. – One 12V-71 Detroit 150KW Kato Engineering generator for handling the full load and one 3-71 Detroit 30KW Delco generator when the full load is not needed as when not dredging.

Cutter motor 50hp variable speed ladder mounted.

Hoist motor is variable speed 25 hp

Fuel Capacity: 11,000 gallons

Two Quincy 325 air compressors for ship service air and for dredge engine starting

Dredge has a galley, head, captains room and crew quarters

Holds 2300 gallons of fresh water
